Job Summary: Assists the nurses and provide supportive care to patients in the preoperative and recovery phase of their stay. Other duties include assisting and maintaining a clean and tidy work environment and stocking.
No nights, weekends, or holidays.
Full-time, Part-time positions available.
Position Description/ Duties
Interacts professionally with patient and family.
Provides patient with explanations and verbal reassurance, as necessary.
Adapts procedures to meet individual needs of adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients for treatment.
Assists with cleaning equipment/bays and preparing them for patients.
Maintains safe environment for patient, co-workers and self, per policies and procedures.
Checks all equipment/instruments needed, prior to each procedure, to ensure proper functioning.
Protects patient's sensitivities and right to privacy; closely observes patient with minimal disturbance.
Performs services requiring technical or manual skills, under the direction of circulating RN.
Cleans and prepares bays between patients and after last patient; restocks supplies, changes linen, takes out trash when necessary, and organizes effectively for end-of-case clean up.
Assists with taking temperature, vital signs, applying anti-embolism stockings, shaving, prepping skin, dressing and getting patients prepared for surgery.
Consults with other staff members when in question or unfamiliar with equipment or procedure.
Regularly collaborates with other members of the nursing team, to maintain equipment and supplies for surgical procedures.
Assists the nurse in the recovery area with dressing patients, preparing them for discharge, getting refreshments for patients.
Establishes and maintains effective communication and good working relationship with co-workers for the patient's benefit.
Assists in transporting patient to their vehicle.
Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain steady level of productivity; self-motivated. Organization and management of activities reflects due consideration for the needs of the ASC.
Assists with any administrative duties such as filing, scanning, organizing workspaces as deemed necessary
Professional Requirements:
Meets dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean.
Completes annual educational requirements.
Maintains regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards.
Always maintains patient confidentiality.
Wears identification while on duty.
Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time.
Completes in-services.
Attends annual review and in-services, as scheduled.
Attends staff meetings annually.

Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
Communicates the mission, goals and ethics of the facility.
Regulatory Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Current BCLS Certification.
- Nursing assistant or medical experience preferred.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Physical demands of position include vision, hearing, repetitive motion, lifting.
