The Patient Care Secretary provides organizational and clerical support to Patient Care units and the healthcare nursing department as assigned. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assembling patient charts, maintain the proper order of sheets, labeling each with barcode label and replenishing sheets as necessary.
- Prepares charts of patients scheduled for surgery and/or special studies
- Completed records and reports as assigned
- Communicates with other departments and/or family as necessary concerning patient status, transfer
- Transcribes physicians’ orders, completing request forms, contacting physicians when consultations requested, ordering equipment, and documenting on the necessary chart forms and kardexes. Enters orders as appropriate through EOE and assists the providers with entering orders. Utilizes orders reconciliation in POE phase to clean up the orders screen
- Greets and directs visitors and patients
- Sorts and delivers mail to patients
- Maintains adequate supplies and inventory in conjunction with other personnel.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Post-secondary preparation in a health care, clerical or business program
- Patient Care Secretary should be fully conversant in medical and health terminology. Basic Keyboard skills
