Salary Range: $18.1600 - $27.9000 /hour
Under the direction of a licensed registered nurse, the Patient Care Assistant (PCA) assists in direct patient care by providing for activities of daily living (ADL), comfort, nutrition, and hygiene needs for adult and geriatric patients. The Patient Care Assistant takes and records clinical measures, collects specimens, provides transportation, and maintains equipment and supplies. The PCA immediately informs the RN of any changes in patient condition and reinforces patient teaching as part of providing a safe patient-centered care environment. May assist with patient charts as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent (employees hired prior to 2011 without an HS diploma are grandfathered into their position).
- Completion of a Nursing Assistant program or completion of the first semester of the RN program is required.
- Conversant in English and experience in computerized charting required.
- Recent employment as a Nursing Assistant is preferred.
Certifications Preferred:
- Current certification as a Nursing Assistant/CNA from the State of California, or completion of the First semester of the Registered Nurse program or equivalent.
- Note that if using CNA Certification, must meet all requirements for certification renewal including obtaining 48 hours of CEUs every two years and obtaining a minimum of 12 of those CEUs in each year of the certification period.
