Our Patient Care Tech (PCA) is an unlicensed staff member who supports the RN with care, emphasizing cultural sensitivity and excellent customer service. Proficient in critical thinking and technical nursing skills, including vital signs and specimen collection. Ensures a clean and safe patient environment, follows fall risk protocols, and maintains proper hygiene. Responsible for patient restraints, ROM, and reorientation. Communicate vital sign changes, skin issues, and patient needs promptly to the RN. Required:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- BLS Certification or obtained within 14 days of hire
- Certified Nursing Assistant Certification, Medical Assistant Diploma, or documentation of Fundamentals of Nursing Course verifying required basic skills (required at time of hire); OR:
- Minimum of 18 months in a specialty tech position or Completion of the Gold Standard Intern Program/Acute Care School with University of Kansas Health System within 6 months of hire can be substituted for certifications listed above
