Position Summary:
This position assists patients with the coordination of financial resources for patients’ treatment and care, and serves as an advocate for Indian patients with external providers and facilities.
Duties:
1. Provides information to patients seeking financial resources to facilitate their treatment and care;
2. Screens patients for potential for eligibility for alternative resources and assists with completion of funding application forms;
3. Provides patients with information on rights and benefits of alternative resources and advises patients of acceptance or denial of funding;
4. Prepares weekly log of all patient inquires, enrollment, and resource availability;
5. Enters data into Nextgen to ensure timely and accurate tracking of patient eligibility, financial resources, and demographics; and
6. Prepares other reports and documents as requested by Supervisor.
7. Other Duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate at time of hire required;
- Age twenty-one or older at the time of hire;
- At least two (2) years of customer service in a professional setting with responsibility for the coordination of Patient Benefits in a hospital, clinic, or health care operation that involved significant interaction with these patients required;
- Knowledge of medical terminology, regulations and policies on Alternative Resources eligibility and third-party resources (Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Indian Health Services) as evidenced by prior work history; and
- Knowledge of or ability to master Nextgen within ninety (90) days of hire as a result of moderate to advanced computer skills at time of hire.
- Must be familiar with the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), Disability, Medicaid, MAABD, Medicare, Nevada Health Link and other government assistance programs.
PLEASE NOTE: Hiring preference will be given to qualified tribal members of Reno-Sparks Indian Colony followed by members of other federally recognized tribes. Must pass and comply with the HR Policy 164.905- PL101.630. The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony requires a designated candidate to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, and confirmation of professional references and certifications.
