About Us:
At the forefront of medical discovery as it relates to understanding the causes of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia, Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical and population research. The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Research at Pennington Biomedical is supported broadly by multiple NIH Research Centers, and includes approximately 65 faculty and 20 postdoctoral fellows who comprise a network of 44 laboratories and 13 highly specialized core service facilities. Pennington Biomedical is located within state-of-the-art research facilities on a 222-acre campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Job Description:
Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Patient Advocacy Manager in Oncology Clinical Trials.
This role will require interactions with patients who have, or are at risk of developing, various types of cancers and their healthcare providers (e.g., oncologists and nurses). Additionally, the Patient Advocacy Manager will coordinate patient enrollment into oncology clinical research studies, as well as promote healthcare and community awareness of available clinical trials and enrollment opportunities.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in healthcare, outreach, business development or related industry.
  • Reliable transportation, current driver's license and liability insurance.
  • Knowledge and capacity to work effectively with people from diverse professional, cultural, and personal backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Detail oriented, strong organizational and time, management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team when required.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or more than 5 years of experience in home health, hospice, or healthcare business development.
  • Current RN, LPN, MSW, LCSW, PT, PTA, OT, OTA, SLP or PA license.
  • Familiarity with the region's cancer care or related healthcare organizations is a plus.
  • Familiarity working in electronic medical record platforms is a plus.
