The role you'll contribute:
Manages, designs, assigns and/or performs all aspects of departmental procedures as they relate to pathology transcription and support including quality control processes, performance improvement activities, interviews & recommending for hire to director, training of new employees and ongoing competency assessment of department employees. Pathology support includes pathology send out testing and pathology specimen accessioning.
The value you'll bring to the team:
Displays expertise in the technical operation; minor troubleshooting of department instrumentation, software and hardware for transcription and dictation including transcription equipment used by remote transcriptionist working from home
Ensures and oversees that quality checks for accuracy of specimen accessioning, dictation, and transcription are performed
Develops, implements and revises departmental policies for pathology transcription and support which includes send out testing and specimen accessioning
Supports cross departmental partnerships and communication amongst Pathologist, Pathologists' Assistants, hospital staff and clients taking immediate steps to correct, follow through and report any mistakes or errors by personnel
Participates in Performance Improvement activities, including resolution of customer service issues and pathology quality assurance reporting
Hires personnel who meet the specified job qualifications as appropriate and directs departmental staffing ensuring adequate orientation, ongoing training and documented competency assessments
Manages and schedules employees to ensure that work assignments provide adequate coverage and employees are utilized effectively including remote transcriptionists working from home
Effectively communicates and sets clear, compelling goals for staff in an effort to motivate, coach, engage and retain personnel
Performs other duties as assigned
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
REQUIRED:
Three years of supervisory experience in transcription
High School degree or GED
Please be advised that all licenses and certifications listed are not required. If you only have one or some of those listed, you may still be eligible for this position.:
Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) - OR
Certified Healthcare Documentation Specialist (CHDS) - OR
Registered Healthcare Documentation Specialist (RHDS) - OR
Certified Healthcare Documentation Professional (CHDP)
PREFERRED:
Knowledge in pathology specimen accessioning and pathology send outs
Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI)
