General Position Description:
- This position exists in order to maintain an accurate inventory of spare and replacement parts for the facility. Personally handle submitted requests for spare parts, projects and non-stocked items. Focus on finding alternative vendors for OEM parts, lowering inventories, increasing turns on all stocked parts and finding ways to consolidate parts to reduce costs and investment. Update various files and databases used for tracking the progress of the parts on order and in stock and generate all required reports. Person must be capable of keeping the stockroom organized, labeled, clean and safe. Use Lean Manufacturing concepts and procedures to focus on improvements and cost reductions.
Description of essential job functions:
- Maintain Microsoft Access database for parts identification, stocking levels, and shelf locations. Enter withdrawals into the database to maintain current inventory levels and submit purchase request for any item found to be under the designated safety stocking level and generate required reports in Microsoft Word, Access and Excel.
- Ability to identify standard industrial parts such as nuts, bolts, belts, bearings, motors, fuses and other related components. Stock the shelves with received parts. Package small items which will be sent out for repair. Maintain the area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Research functions consist of the following. Submitting a fax and emails using Microsoft Outlook to vendors who supply items needed to determine lowest cost for the item. Use O.E.M. prints with maintenance personnel, to determine parts I.D. Use various catalogs to locate non-stocked common commodities needed for repairs.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Manager or designate.
