Job Objective:

Provide excellent customer service to our donors that come to the donor door in a store. Maintain a clean and well organized donation area. Handle each transaction with accuracy.

  • Present professional appearance, adhering to dress code at all times.
  • Maintain a friendly demeanor, greeting our donors and asking if they need any assistance.
  • Maintain a clean and well organized donation area.
  • Responsible for all operations and security matters while on duty.
  • Receive and receipt all donated material, ensuring the email address is obtained from as many donors as possible.
  • Safeguard all donated materials and assigned equipment.
  • Track donations per center policy.
  • Courteously advise donors of material which is not acceptable. Advise donors of heavy materials for pick-up service.
  • Where and when applicable, power sort donations as they come in.
  • Report complaints, damage, and any injuries occurring on or near the donation area for which The Salvation Army may become liable.
  • Sort, load and unload all SA trucks per Center policy.
  • Support the production processes as needed.
  • Must be available for a flexible schedule.
Requirements:

Wage Information: $11.00 per hour

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or currently pursuing; OR, any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to speak, write, and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership and field personnel.
  • Basic computer skills, including but not limited to, the use of payroll program and the ability to learn other programs or systems that are adopted by the TSA ARC.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to use basic math skills.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background test.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands, handle, or feel; and hear or talk. The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Travel:

Occasional travel to other stores or for training.

Working Conditions:

The work environment for this position is a store environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. The environment may be dusty and may experience temperature fluctuations based on weather. May stand for extended periods. The employee is routinely exposed to outdoor weather. Full-time/Part-time position; will require weekend and evening hours.
