Off Cabot Comedy and Events is a vibrant entertainment venue located in Beverly, MA, offering an intimate space for comedy shows, musical performances, and various community events. With a 120-seat cabaret-style room, we provide a unique setting for performers and audiences alike.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Part-Time Sound Engineer/Production Manager to join our team at Off Cabot Comedy and Events. The ideal candidate will have a passion for live entertainment, excellent technical skills, and a keen eye for detail to ensure high-quality audio and production for all performances and events.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate house sound equipment and lighting systems during live performances, ensuring optimal sound quality and stage visibility.
  • Assist artists with set up and tear down and enhance any additional audio and visual equipment for each event, including microphones, speakers, amplifiers, and lighting, based on the needs of the show
  • Conduct sound checks and monitor audio levels throughout performances to maintain balance and clarity.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues promptly to minimize disruptions during events.
  • Collaborate closely with performers, event organizers, and venue staff to understand their technical requirements and preferences.
  • Maintain and organize equipment inventory, ensuring all gear is properly maintained and in working condition.
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating production logistics for upcoming events, including load-ins, rehearsals, and load-outs.
  • Uphold venue policies and safety standards to ensure a positive experience for performers and audiences.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a sound engineer or production manager in a live entertainment setting, preferably in clubs, theaters, or similar venues.
  • Proficiency in operating sound and lighting equipment, including mixing consoles, microphones, speakers, and lighting controls.
  • Strong technical skills and problem-solving abilities to address equipment malfunctions and other technical challenges quickly and efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with performers, event organizers, and venue staff.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate event schedules.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices for audio production, stage management, and event coordination.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift and carry heavy equipment as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or formal training in audio engineering, stagecraft, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with digital audio workstations (DAWs) and audio editing software.
  • Previous experience working in a small or independent venue environment.
