Part Time Sensory Evaluators

Hello! Do you enjoy testing out different products and giving your opinion? Well, the Blue California Sensory and Consumer Insight Center is looking to hire individuals to become a part of the team that will be paid to evaluate (taste, texture, odor, etc.) food, beverage and personal care products. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to Blue California’s innovation efforts and provide insights that will help understand and improve our client’s products through use of Blue California ingredients. Once we have received your interest, you will be invited to participate in a multi-step interview process. Interested candidates will be tested for their ability to taste and describe must possess a variety of food products. A group discussion activity will also be part of the interview process to screen candidates for their clear verbal communication skills, both individually and as part of a group. Candidates that pass both the taste and group discussion steps will be invited to be on the trained panel. Upon acceptance, the panel will go through extensive training for 3 months as a group, which will be paid.

Requirements:

• Able to commit to the below schedule for a 2 year minimum
• Reliable transportation to Rancho Santa Margarita (Blue California offices).
• No food allergies, dietary restrictions, and/or dentures
• An aptitude for food sampling with a good level of sensory detection (basic sense of smell, taste, touch etc. will be assessed at interview stage)
• Excellent communication skills and documentation skills
• Computer literate and have good attention to detail.
• Team-oriented and works well within a team.

Duties:

• Evaluate sensory characteristics of a variety of products (Food, Beverage, Personal and Household Care products).
• Documenting, sharing opinions, observations, descriptions based on vocabulary development, training and profiling guidelines.
• Testing includes food, beverage and personal care products

* Work Schedule: Tuesday - Thursday (10am -1pm)

**The total number of hours worked a week may vary depending on project load, but could range from between 0 and 12 hours per week. Flexibility for last-minute scheduling is a must.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: .5 – 12 per week
