Part-Time Circulation Clerk
Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Branch Manager, performs various circulation tasks related to the library's operation.
Typical Duties:
Duties may include the following:
- Works at the circulation desk.
- Responsible for shelving and shelf reading all materials.
- Circulates, reserves, renews, distributes, and maintains all library materials.
- Issues library cards to patrons and collects fines and fees for overdue and damaged items.
- Responds to telephone inquiries about library programs and services.
- Monitors public use of Children's/Teen Area and assists patrons in location of materials and equipment.
- Helps to answer reference and informational questions as well as questions on the use of materials.
- Work with teens and children to ensure proper behavior in the Library.
- Performs other library tasks as assigned.
Desired Knowledge, Skills,and Abilities:
- High School or Equivalent
- Experience working with children.
- Basic knowledge of general office procedures.
- Comfortable working in an environment that can be energetic and lively.
- Ability to communicate effectively and courteously; ability and desire to serve the public of all ages; and ability to work as a team member.
- Outgoing personality and good sense of humor.
- Comfortable working with computers, Microsoft Office programs, and general technology.
Tools and Equipment Used:
Library computer system; personal computer, including word processing and spreadsheet software; calculator; Xerox machine (copy/scan/fax); phone and other related personal electronic devices.
