Job Description Summary
Assist cook in preparation of daily meals that meet Head Start and USDA requirements and maintain a sanitary and healthy environment for children;
4-4.5 hours per day as scheduled;
10-month position, mid-August through mid-June
Responsibilities
-Help cook to prepare meals according to the cyclic menu.
-Food delivery from the kitchen to classrooms onsite or offsite.
-Foods shall be attractively presented; hot foods shall be served hot and cold foods shall be served cold;
-Serve meals on time and maintain a sanitary, healthy environment by adhering to regulations for dishwashing and sanitizing surfaces, and by participating in daily custodial duties;
-Follow the Head Start performance standards for Health and Nutrition, and Oregon Health Division Food Sanitation Rules.
-Maintain open lines of communication within the program, including participation in team or individual meetings as requested, and submission of documentation or reports, as requested, promptly.
Minimum Qualifications
-High School Diploma or equivalent
-Regular kneeling, stooping and bending, and standing for long periods; frequent lifting up to 50lbs; Ability to perform necessary mathematical calculations; Determining and prioritizing own workload.
Maintains confidentiality of records and conversations per policy; Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of status or position; Accepts responsibility for own actions; Follows through on commitments; Adapts to changes in the work environment; Changes approach or method to best fit the situation; Manages competing demands; can deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events; Is consistently at work and on time; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a commercial or USDA kitchen

Prior to beginning work, the successful candidate must:
-Enrollment in the Oregon Child Care Division Central Background Registry https://www.oregon.gov/OCC/Pages/On-line_application_informationpage.aspx
-Communicable Disease Verification from a qualified Healthcare Provider
-Provide work authorization documentation necessary to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States as required by the Federal Government. Eastern Oregon University Head Start does not sponsor applicants for employment visas.
-Must have a valid Oregon Driver's license and be able to pass a driving records check.
Within 30 days of hire:
-Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification
-Oregon Food Handler's Card
