Part Time Instructor

Leading Day Program for Adults with Developmental Disabilities seeking dedicated and reliable Part Time Employees in Manteca.

Day Shift Only! No Nights! No Weekends! Off Most Holidays!

Hours typically are 8:00 am to 2:30 pm 4 days per week and 8:00 am to 12:00 pm 1 day per week.

Valley CAPS (Center for Advanced Personal Success) is a licensed non-profit organization that has been in operation since 1976. We provide a variety of programs designed to benefit adults with developmental disabilities. Valley CAPS operates five facilities in two counties and has over 200 adults attending on a daily basis. Our Programs are designed to increase our Participant’s skills in self-care and daily living, academics, communications, and employment opportunities.

Job Summary: Our Instructors are responsible for implementing our Participants goals and objectives, supporting each Participants efforts towards their goals, and providing an environment in which the Participants can learn.

Job Duties

• Ensures the safety, health, and success of Participants,
• Encourages Participants to express their preferences and choices,
• Participates in developing and documenting Individual Service Plans (ISP’s),
• Provide daily trainings at Program,
• Utilizes existing lesson plans and contributes new ideas to expand the lesson plans,
• Maintains records of Participant progress in obtaining their goals,
• Reports, documents, and maintains records of Participant incidents, accidents, and seizures in a confidential manner,
• As a mandated reporter, reports all known or suspected incidents of abuse,
• Assists in lifting and transferring Participants for the purposes of personal care,
• Maintains professional and ethical standards,
• Supports Valley CAPS’ mission, values, and goals, and
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience in working with people with developmental disabilities and general knowledge of developmental disabilities is desired but not required,
• Clear desire to serve adults with disabilities,
• Ability to handle stressful situations calmly,
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment,
• Be able to communicate with a variety of supervisors and Participant care teams,
• Must pass a pre-employment physical examination, lift test (75 lbs.), and drug test,
• Must have a negative tuberculosis (TB) test, and
• Must pass a Department of Justice /FBI Criminal Background Check.
• Must have a High School diploma or GED and be 18 years old (due to background check).
