The Instructional Designer is a part-time, 100% remote position that supports student success through working with faculty in course design consultation, guided implementation of new teaching strategies and assessment methods, and supporting the use of technology to enhance learning. This position reports directly to the Senior Director, Teaching & Learning. The Instructional Designer has the following responsibilities:
What you'll do on a typical day
● Design and facilitate professional development activities for faculty
● Serve as a consultant to faculty on Universal Design for Learning (UDL), course design, development of course outcomes, module objectives, and assessment methods and to achieve student learning outcomes.
● Use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements when creating and evaluating content.
● Develop digital media assets to enhance instruction and support the attainment of student learning outcomes. Remain proficient in the use of digital media tools and software.
● Assist with user support and troubleshooting for the learning management system (Moodle), video platform, and other instructional technology tools.
● Monitor developments in the field of instructional design and technology to remain current on innovative and effective strategies and practices.
● Manage multiple projects on various timelines from development to delivery to assessment.
● Collaborate with colleagues within the Teaching and Learning Department and across campus
● Maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.
● Support the mission, vision, and values of the College and attend College events and meetings.
● Perform other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College.

Your attributes
Qualifications Required:
Master’s Degree in Instructional Design or related field (e.g. Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, Education, etc.)
● 1-2 years of relevant experience working with instructional design and instructional technology-related projects
● Experience with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and digital accessibility
● Thorough knowledge of instructional design principles and pedagogical strategies
● Experience creating instructional materials for professional development courses
● Experience with learning management systems such as Moodle
● Ability to work independently or in teams, collaborate with others, lead projects, and provide excellent support service to constituents and stakeholders (e.g., faculty, staff)
Qualifications Preferred:
● Experience consulting with instructors and/or subject matter experts in analyzing course design and identifying areas of improvement
● Experience with applying the Quality Matters rubric
● Experience with content authoring tools such as Camtasia and Articulate Storyline or Rise
● Experience with Zoom, Google Workspace, and YuJa Video Platform
