SalaryGENERAL DESCRIPTION:
As a member of the styling team, Artists are responsible for creating camera-ready looks for television and digital on screen talent. The Hair and Makeup Artist position will require a high level of proficiency in Hair and Makeup styling for both men and women, as well as the ability to work in the rapidly changing environment of television.
The primary responsibilities of a Hair and Makeup Artist include, but are
not limited to:
● Ensure that all presenters and on air talent have appropriate hair styling and Makeup application completed in the allocated time prior to broadcast.
● Ensure that those appearing on air are made up suitably, based on the look of the channel and agreed to look for individual presenters.
● Work flexibly as required; including a range of day/night/overnight and weekend shifts, including public holidays if required to do so.
● Provide fast, accurate and appropriate makeup and hair styling for both men and women.
● Hairstyling with proficiency in blow-outs, as well as using hot tools effectively and safely to accomplish volume and smoothness.
● To be responsible for maintaining the continuity of the Presenters’ ‘look’ and to ensure the presenters are comfortable with their look.
● Work closely with presenters, correspondents and reporters in a positive, considerate and professional manner.
● Responsible for checking whether on-air talent have any allergies, skin and/ or scalp conditions in advance, and make sure that any allergies or sensitivities are taken into consideration and noted in their talent profiles
● Accompany presenters and guests on set and stand by during the program, touching up Hair and Makeup as required.
● Keep the Hair and Makeup room and one's personal space clean, tidy, and free of clutter, and identify products that need to be replenished to management so that supplies are well stocked.
● To inform the Styling Manager of low stock levels.
Requirements:
● Applicants should have a minimum of 3 years experience of working within the Hair and Makeup industry. Preferably experience in broadcast television.
● Have a portfolio showing diversity and versatility in hairstyling, makeup and male grooming.
● Must be proficient in both makeup and hair techniques tailored to broadcast television.
● Must be experienced in using a wide variety of professional makeup/hair tools and products.
● Must be prompt and dependable.
● Must be able to create makeup and hair styles to meet production.
● Must be self-assured, without appearing arrogant and having a positive attitude is paramount.
● Must be able to cope with potentially stressful situations and be able to deal with change.
● Must be flexible and have a creative approach to problem solving.
● Must have a high personal standard of excellence that leads you to be meticulous and careful in your work.
● Must have a good understanding of how lighting can affect makeup, and the differences between Standard Definition and High Definition output.
● Must be up-to-date with the latest products, equipment and techniques.
● Must have effective communication and diplomacy skills.
● Must have excellent organizational skills.
● Must be able to work effectively as part of a team.
● Must be able to work under pressure and strict time constraints.
● Must be knowledgeable of the requirements of the relevant Health and Safety legislation and procedures.
**This is an hourly position and 20 Hours a week.**
