Part-Time Fire Alarm Technician

We provide maintenance, grounds and custodial services for more than 70 buildings and parking garages and over 300 acres of lawns, trees, plantings, sidewalks and parking lots. The department is also a frequent partner with IU Capital Projects on campus renovation projects and new construction initiatives.

Job Summary

• Installs, repairs, and inspects smoke and fire suppressions systems; inspects tests, and repairs Fire Alarm wiring, Fire Alarm panels and peripheral equipment. Identifies hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
• Inspects, repairs, or replaces smoke/heat detectors and sprinkler heads; repairs and tests dry/wet systems; tests Fire Alarm systems using appropriate diagnostic programs and equipment.
• Performs tests on fire pumps and standpipe systems.
• Ensures that work is in accordance with relevant codes.
• Performs other general building maintenance as assigned.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including general building maintenance duties.

Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required

• High school diploma or GED

WORK EXPERIENCE
Required

• 5 years Verifiable journey level experience in the electrical field OR Certificate in DOL apprenticed electrical trade

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Required

• Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University

SKILLS
Required

• Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information

Advertised Salary
$18 per hour.
Work Hours
This part-time position will be 29 hours per week.
