Summary:
The Meals on Wheels & Congregate Nutrition Driver delivers meals to homebound older adults on assigned days and as needed to provide route coverage.Report changes in client conditions. Receive and stock inventory, assemble items, and deliver to community table dining sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver frozen meals to vulnerable, homebound older adults.
Assemble and pack frozen meals according to client orders.
Organize meal packages in delivery vehicle based on route schedule.
Deliver meals to client homes, offer to put away meals.
Observe and report changes in client condition or situation to RDN or assessors.
Contact emergency personnel when client situation warrants.
Store foods according to standards to assure food safety and sanitation.
Check to be sure refrigerated equipment is operating at safe temperatures, and report any problems to Nutrition Office
Rotate stock appropriately
Maintain clean assembly area according to cleaning schedule.
Complete required documentation and submit to the Nutrition office on a timely basis.

Provide transportation and operations support for the Community Table Dining program
Receive, put away food and supply stock when delivered to central production area (delivery truck arrives at 5AM). Check expiration dates and product condition.Rotate all stock with new product in back to ensure oldest stock is used first.
Document receipt of goods on vendor invoice; immediately report any discrepancies, shortages, backorders, outdated or poor-quality product to the Nutrition office.
Using specified order forms, assemble all dry goods for delivery to the sites.Document on form the amount picked. Place product for each site in the appropriate container.
Assemble or assist with assembly of perishable and frozen foods; place in designated transport containers.
Deliver items per schedule. Document quantity of items on form. Place all items in appropriate storage areas (storeroom, refrigerator, freezer, other).
General
Load delivery truck and verify correct amounts are loaded
Operate legally within speed limits, using seat belts. Completepre- and post-trip vehicle inspections reporting problems. Fuel vehicles when needed. Log all mileage. Maintain cleanliness of vehicles
Clean storage containers and carts according to established procedures on a predetermined schedule
Maintain freezer and refrigerator organization. Clean floors and shelves as needed
Maintain organization and cleanliness of warehouse. Perform monthly inventory
Participate in agency and department staff meetings and trainings
Monitor Homage emails at least once per week
Regular and routine attendance
Other duties as assigned

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Interest in working with older adults and those with disabilities
Valid Washington State driver's license and must carry own liability insurance and provide proof of insurance periodically as required
No at-fault accidents within the last 3 years
Demonstrated experience in coordinating daily work in a team environment
Strong customer service skills
Valid food handler's card must be acquired within 2 weeks of hire date
Ability to use navigation and delivery-based applications to find delivery locations and communicate delivery status in real time
Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (especially Outlook and Teams) comfortable navigating in Microsoft Windows environment and using internet browsers
Must be fully vaccinated per program or agency requirements
Absent any regulatory or contractual requirement for specific education/certification, other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous delivery experience
Previous foodservice or warehouse experience
Experience working with older adults and/or people with disabilities
Experience with diverse communities
Fluency in other languages in addition to English
Work environment and physical demands:
This work is performed in a warehouse facility, including walking, standing for up to three hours at a time, spending time in walk-in coolers/freezers at very low temperatures. The work is also performed in delivery vans and box trucks, delivering supplies and meals to locations including community/senior centers and individuals' homes and apartments, including carrying items up and down stairs and across uneven pavement/ground.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds frequently, and occasionally up to 50 pounds
Comfortable with frequent handling of frozen and refrigerated products
Comfortable with driving a delivery van or 1214-foot refrigerated box truck in varying weather
Capable of a full range of physical activity as needed to perform the above essential duties including the ability to crouch, kneel, crawl, stoop, bend at the waist, bend at the knees, lift, stretch, use fingers and hands, etc.
Able to drive/work outside in all types of weather, including snow and ice, getting in and out of vehicle frequently

SUMMARY OF BENEFITS
Employees working 25 hours or more are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, vision, basic life, and critical illness insurance, with an increased cost share for employees scheduled for 25-29 hours/week. Employees working 20 hours or more per week receive 11 designated paid holidays plus 2 "floating holidays" per year, as well as paid vacation and sick time. Employees age 21 and older are able to enroll in our 401K plan upon hire and, after one year and at least 1000 hours worked, will be eligible for our matching program.
