Position Description
THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION
Under general supervision of the Missing Persons/Runaways Unit Sergeant, the Deputy Investigator will perform duties related to locating Missing Persons/Runaways and filing criminal charges when warranted.Duties and tasks are, but are not limited to:
- Directly reports to the Unit Sergeant
- Locate Missing People and Runaways
- Prepare detailed reports
- Manages a substantial caseload
- Interview witnesses and interrogate suspects
- Verify/Modify NCIC/TCIC NIC entries
- Execute arrest and search warrants
- Conduct surveillance
- Assists other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in locating Missing Persons/Runaways and conducting criminal investigations
- File Charges
- Courtroom Testimony
- Performs other assignments and duties as required and/or necessary
Requirements
- Must be an Honorably Retired Peace Officer
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in law enforcement, record management, or a related field
- Must have good attendance
- Must be able to work varying duty hours if needed and show up to work on time
- Must not be under any disciplinary sanctions or have an unsatisfactory evaluation
- Possession of a valid Class C Driver’s License
- Texas Penal Code
- Basic interviewing
- Investigative techniques, arrest procedures, search warrants, pocket warrants, grand jury subpoenas, rules of evidence, chain of custody, and courtroom testimony
- Proficient report writing skills and excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Proficient in the use of standard office software programs such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Superion (RMS), JIMS/JWEB and JOTS computer systems
- Excellent time Management and Organizational Skills
- Prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment to meet strict deadlines.
- Work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Effectively Manage a heavy Caseload
- Multi-task in a complex work environment
- Work and maintain a professional relationship with investigators
- Maintain Case Information Confidentiality
