Job Description
Do you believe in the power of unconditional love and that pets and people are at their best when they can stay together? If so, you may be the ideal candidate for the Community Assistance Programs Coordinator position at the Connecticut Humane Society.
Throughout its 140+ years, the Connecticut Humane Society (CHS) has been at the forefront of animal welfare. And that involves so much more than providing shelter to homeless pets! With the powerful human-animal bond at the heart of CHS' work, the organization works hard to keep pets out of shelters and with the families who already know and love them through pet food pantries, access to reduced-fee veterinary care and more.
CHS is currently looking for a part-time Community Assistance Programs Coordinator. Based out of the Newington location, this position will:
- Run CHS' pet food pantries (Newington, Waterford, Westport and traveling events), staying on top of current needs and managing inventory.
- Support community assistance programs (pet food pantries, pop-up veterinary events, etc.).
- Build awareness of CHS' services and programs through communication with community organizations who share in the vision of keeping pets in homes
- Assist with creating partnerships that advance CHS' mission and help design and implement new programming.
- Serve as an ambassador for CHS, building awareness of services and programs by participating in speaking opportunities, tablings, and other outreach opportunities.
There will be a strong administrative component to this position, including but not limited to inventory management, researching, budgeting, logistic support and maintenance of program records.
