Part-Time Camp Counselor
Tanganyika Wildlife Park in Goddard, KS is looking for hardworking, self-motivated, dedicated educators. Currently the park is 25 acres and has another 40+ acres to expand and we plan on growing. A new children's zoo and safari park are among the plans for expansion. Tanganyika prides itself in providing wildly different experiences for its guests and being stewards for the animals in our care. In the past year, we have developed a set of core values to guide leadership and our team to improve and continue to meet our goals of becoming a destination park for visitors and a great place to work. As a Camp Counselor you will have the opportunity to lead our campers through games, crafts, and other fun activities throughout the camp day. From this position you will gain useful leadership and time management skills.
Hours will vary based upon camp enrollment, but counselors should expect to work 12-20 hours per week from late May to Early August.
Training for this position will start in April.
First full week of camp is May 27th - 31st
Position end date: August 9th
Requirements?
- 15 years or older
- Experience working with elementary aged children
- Excellent public speaking and customer service skills
- Desire to grow as a team member, educator, and human being
- Ability to stand or walk and be able to perform physical work outside in all weather conditions
- Ability to bend, stoop, and lift 25-50 pounds when necessary
- Ability to work long hours, weekends, weekdays, and holidays when needed

- Starting salary: $11.50/hour

Tanganyika Wildlife Park is located on the West edge of Wichita at:
1000 S. Hawkins Ln. in Goddard, KS.
GPS Update:
Google Maps and Apple Maps are both routing people to our service entrance off 183rd St W. If you use one of these apps for directions, make sure you go North to Maple St and then head West to Hawkins Ln. The true Park entrance is at the end of that road.
The Pavilion Deli offers full meal combos with sandwiches, chips and drinks, kids meals, sides and snacks. For dessert Tanganyika has a full selection of ice cream novelties. The beverage selection includes a full range of bottled drinks, juices, fountain drinks, souvenir cups, Icees and beer.
Kang Brew CafeKang Brew Cafe provides smoothies, Tanganyika Twisters and coffee-based drinks like the Giraffe-a-Latte and Okapi-ccino to keep you energized. Also find hot beverages like hot chocolate and coffee from Wichita-based Reverie Coffee Roasters.
