Part-Time Briefing Attorney

Moss Law Firm is a consumer collections firm representing national banks in the State of Texas. Moss Law Firm is looking for a Briefing Attorney to help manage its contested litigation. The position will require a commitment to work 20 hours per week. The position can be either remote, in-office, or hybrid. Applicant must be licensed to practice law in Texas. Responsibilities will include the following:

• Drafting appellate briefs (generally for the appellee) to be filed in Texas Courts of Appeal;
• Drafting pleadings for filing in Texas state courts; 
• Drafting pleadings in federal courts (generally motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment); 
• Researching developments in consumer collection law at the federal and state level;
• Providing advice regarding litigation strategy; 
• Maintaining and updating brief bank.

Applicant must possess superior legal writing and research capabilities. Applicant must be licensed to practice law in the State of Texas. Applicants must have at least 3 years of experience drafting pleadings in contested litigation. Knowledge of the FDCPA and FCRA preferred. Please provide writing sample with resume.
