Patrols for stray dogs and other loose animals or livestock.
Works with the Town Clerk to receive monthly reports on licensed dogs, and send out reminders for annual relicensing of dogs.
Receives and responds to all complaints of' loose dogs, feral cats, wild animals, injured animals and any and all complaints pertaining to animals.
Investigates and reports on all known incidents of animal bites to humans.
Transports animals to appropriate shelter. Documents animals captured for fine purposes and identification.
Completes necessary paperwork, such as Impounding Forms, Animal Release Forms, Dog Bite Forms and Quarantine Forms.
Uses appropriate departmental equipment, captures animals suspected of being rabid.
Verifies claims of livestock killed by animals. Issues warnings for nuisance animals, lenses fines and takes animal owners to court for temporary or permanent restraining orders.
Prepares general office reports and assists with data entry and other clerical work.
Prepares all factual documents that pertain to the prosecution of local by law violations.
Commences legal action against violators by filing Complaints with the District Court. Appears and testifies on the Town's behalf in Court.
Removes and disposes of any deceased animals from public roads.
Trains new Assistant Animal Control Officers, as needed.
Supports Animal Inspector with inspections of facilities where farm animals are kept.
Attends night meetings, as necessary.
Responds to emergency after-hour calls.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months' experience working with animals is desirable or equivalent combination of education and experience with municipal
