The Patterson Library has an immediate opening for a Part-Time Adult Program Assistant to provide programming, technical, and administrative assistance to the Adult Programming and PR Coordinator. The Adult Program Assistant's primary responsibilities are to implement programs, enhance the library's technological offerings, manage social media platforms, and foster community engagement. This multifaceted position requires proficiency in various digital tools, including the Microsoft Suite and Constant Contact for e-newsletters, and strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patrons and community partners. Additionally, this position requires scheduling flexibility to accommodate daytime, evening, and weekend programming schedules.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Program Coordination and Execution:
- Implement diverse library programs, including workshops, lectures, and special events.
Technology Support:
- Provide technical support to program presenters with AV equipment.
- Update website and digital displays.
Social Media Management:
- Create engaging content for the library's social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram.
Graphic Design and Promotion:
- Utilize tools like Canva and Publisher to design visually appealing promotional materials for library events, programs, and services.
- Assist with the creation of an e-newsletter using Constant Contact.
- Distribute promotional materials both online and within the library space and local area.
Public Relations:
- Attend community events and meetings to represent the library and identify opportunities for collaboration.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in social media management and content creation across various platforms.
- Knowledge of graphic design software such as Canva, Publisher, or similar tools.
- Experience in public relations, community outreach, or event coordination is a plus.
- Flexible availability to work daytime, evening, and weekend shifts as required by the library’s programming schedule.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse audiences.
Compensation & Hours: $16.25 per hour; 20 – 24 hours per week
