Description
Under general supervision, this position maintains parks and aquatic facilities, including open space, athletic fields, and facilities; assists and performs various duties to support special events.
Posted range is the starting salary. Pay rate offered is based on experience.
Examples of Duties
- Provides preventive, scheduled and emergency maintenance of City pools, water fountains and pool equipment; order pool chemicals, ensure safe handling and storage of chemicals, interpret water chemistry tests and make adjustments as needed.
- Performs daily rounds of facilities to pick up trash, empty cans, inspect areas for damage/vandalism. Check facilities including plumbing, lights, etc.
- Maintains City pools by mowing, edging, trimming park areas, and trimming. Maintains facilities by repairing/replacing doors, gates, fences, minor repairs, and painting.
- Performs checks and repairs of pool facilities, to include pools, pump rooms, pool decks, buildings, structures, and adjacent areas.
- Cleans restrooms, driveways, power wash pavilions, cleans windows.
- Completes and works on light/small construction projects.
- Completes and maintains all records as required by law, prepares and reconciles expense reports, obtains bids and quotes for projects and supplies. Oversees work performed by contractors.
- Provides support for special events needs through preparation, assembly, and tear down of temporary (lighting, utilities, structures, and props.) Will include tasks in carpentry, electrical and painting, as well as general services and clean up.
- Provide maintenance services using trades such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, painting, etc. on facilities, parks, amenities, complexes, shelters and restrooms, etc. This includes preventative maintenance tasks as well.
Experience and Training
- High school graduation or GED equivalent is required.
- At least one (1) year of experience in general labor/maintenance work is required.
- Proven leadership skills are preferred.
Certificates and Licenses Required
- Texas Class C driver's license is required.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification within twelve (12) months of hire.
- Depending on assigned division, job-specific certifications and licenses may be required.
