Description
An entry level laborer position responsible for daily maintenance of parks, medians, municipal properties, cul-de-sacs, and streetscape.
Example Of Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as dictated by operational necessity.
- Mowing, weed-eating, pruning, and trimming of plant material in City's Parks and Grounds, medians, cul-de-sacs and Streetscape.
- Cleaning flowerbeds, planting trees, shrubs and flowers
- Maintenance of picnic shelters, gazebos, parking lots, tennis courts, recreational and playground equipment
- Installation and repair of irrigation equipment
- Painting, minor repairs and assembly of park equipment and facilities.
- Operate equipment, tractors & mowers, etc.
- Use power tools to make repairs on buildings and park equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty or responsibility satisfactorily. KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of proper safety procedures, including signage and traffic management techniques and appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Knowledge of basic landscaping techniques and landscape maintenance.
- Knowledge of the equipment and materials used for lawn care and landscape maintenance.
- Knowledge of the use of basic hand tools and painting equipment.
- Skill in the use of landscaping and lawn care equipment.
- Skill in doing simple mechanical and painting repair.
- Able to do primarily outside laboring work.
- Able to operate equipment that is potentially hazardous.
- Able to communicate effectively with members of the public.
- Able to operate light vehicles and equipment.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate highly desirable, but not required.
- Valid Florida driver’s license required.
