Job description

Hours : Saturday and Sunday (10 am to 3 pm) 10 hours Per week.

Parking Lot Monitor Duties:

  • Provide Exceptional Customer Service (Highest Priority)

The primary duty and responsibility of our Parking Monitor is do whatever you can do to make customers feel welcomed, safe, and appreciated. We are there to make our vendor look great. We can reflect positively on them by maximizing the parking available to their customers, and by providing outstanding customer service as follows:

  • Speak to / greet everyone who comes within 15’ of you or makes eye contact with you.
  • ALWAYS be Pleasant, Polite, and Professional with everyone you interact with – especially those who are upset, rude, or nasty toward you (be extra nice to them).
  • Provide Assistance to Client Operations As Requested by Management
  • Monitor and Enforce Clients Parking Policy As Directed by Management

It is the duty and responsibility of our Parking Monitor to constantly patrol the lot(s) /garage and make every effort to provide customers with the maximum amount of parking in the areas closest to the store entrances and exits. We are to monitor and enforce our clients parking policy as directed by ABC Services Management and each Store Manager. In most cases monitoring is done in the following ways:

  • Compliance with Time Limits for parking, as posted on signs throughout the parking areas. Usually the signs limit customer parking to 90 minutes or 2 hours.
  • Making rounds – walking through the Parking Lot/garage and recording information about vehicles in the garage on a log sheet. The log sheet provides a place for the Time, the vehicle’s Location in the garage, and the License Plate Number, of each car being recorded. Rounds are typically done whenever a shift is started and then every 90 minutes to 2 hours after that.
  • In most cases, if there is a lot of available parking spaces, and unless directed otherwise by Management, we allow an additional 30 to 60 minutes past the posted time limit as a courtesy, before taking any action.
  • After it is determined that a vehicle is definitely beyond the posted time limit and past the courtesy period, we take whatever action management has directed (usually this involves placing a Warning Violation sticker on the vehicle).

Any and All Enforcement steps to be taken beyond the Warning Violation stickers MUST be approved by ABC Services management. ABC Services Management will communicate with store manager and receive direction from them. ABC Services management will communicate and direct the Parking Monitor if they are to take any further action.

  • Compliance with Customer Only policy – when Parking Monitor observes a vehicle parking and the vehicle owner ‘Walks Off’ clients property and goes somewhere other than that location.
  • Enforcement in this circumstance can be challenging and ABC Services Management and Parking Monitors must be sure that they fully understand what Enforcement steps Management wants taken.
  • In some cases the vehicle owner may be going to another nearby store and then returning to shop at our clients location. In other cases the vehicle owner is leaving to get on the Metro or bus and go to work somewhere else for the day. This is also why it is important to monitor the length of time that vehicles are parked on our clients property.

**ABC Services of Maryland Parking Monitors are NEVER to have aggressive, argumentative, or confrontational interactions with ANYONE.

** It is the duty and responsibility of ABC Services Parking Monitors is to be Active and Interactive. Parking Monitors should not be sitting or standing idle for more than 5 minutes out of any hour. An important part of the Parking Monitors job is to be highly visible in order to deter potential violators, and to create a feeling of safety for our clients customers.

Pay: $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 per week
