Job Details The City of Plano is looking for an innovate and forward-thinking candidate to join our team as the Crew Leader for the Golf Course Maintenance staff.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for scheduling, supporting, inspecting, and documenting daily Golf Course Maintenance related task. The City of Plano's Golf Course Maintenance staff is a dedicated to providing the citizens of Plano with an outstanding, accessible, and environmentally sustainable golfing experience. Pecan Hollow was re-constructed in 2011 with MiniVerde Bermudagrass greens, 419 tees; fairways; and roughs, and a premier irrigation system constructed with HDPE pipe.

A successful candidate will have: A High school diploma or GED equivalent Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in landscaping, construction, Golf Course Maintenance or similar trade. State issued Noncommercial Political Pesticide Applicator license (Must obtain within 3 months of employment) Competencies in basic computer skills, verbal and written communication, and golf maintenance/landscape equipment operation. Together we make a difference. Join Team Plano! Summary of Duties: Under general supervision, the Park Maintenance Crew Leader is responsible for leading the work activities of maintenance personnel on parks, public grounds, and athletic areas.

Examples of ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Management reserves the rights to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job. Operates specialized and heavy equipment required in the upkeep and operation of the areas of responsibility. Inspects and maintains assigned equipment.

Performs various construction, routine maintenance, and labor tasks. Mows, trim, edge, and aerate grass; trim and prune trees, hedges, and bushes; removes brush and debris; mulches flower beds and tree islands. Sets concrete forms; pours, levels, and finishes concrete.

May paint lines and set up sporting equipment to include goal posts, nets, and screens depending on area of assignment. Ensures conditions are safe in the area where work is performed; selects most appropriate working routine. Leads the work activities of assigned maintenance personnel in various grounds maintenance and other work tasks.

Prepares sports fields. Maintains daily work orders. May set up sporting equipment on fields to include goals and chalk lines; repairs fences, player benches, and bleacher seats as needed.

Cleans and maintains equipment and tools. Maintains daily job assignments of maintenance staff through software management system Performs various routine Golf Course Maintenance and labor tasks. Assists with pesticide applications and/or operates and calibrates pesticide application equipment.

Communicates effectively and establishes and maintains effective relations with staff, golfers, pro shop staff, and other departments and users. Assesses he conditions of the Golf Course and provides superintendents with findings and solutions and communicates with pro shop contractor of the appropriate opening times and general course conditions. Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule is essential.

Marginal Duties: Performs other duties as assigned. Typical Decisions: The incumbent must regularly assess the condition of properties, sports fields, and plant materials and provides appropriate remedies, or maintenance. Leads and supervises the work activities of others.

When assigned to Golf, may coordinate the appropriate opening times for the Golf Course with the pro shop staff. Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of: Best practices for Golf Course Maintenance; operation of specialized Golf Course Maintenance tools and equipment; operation and maintenance of golf irrigation systems; turf maintenance; Texas Department of Agriculture pesticide application laws; operation of computers and or tablets. Skill in: Communicating clearly both verbally and in writing; operating various tools and equipment as needed; leading the work of others.

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in landscaping, construction, Golf Course Maintenance or similar trade. Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above minimum qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements Licenses and Certifications: State issued Noncommercial Political Pesticide Applicator license (Must obtain within 3 months of employment).

Texas Class C driver's license prior to employment. Conditions of Employment: Must pass a drug test, driver license check, criminal history background check, periodic CJIS background check (for positions requiring access into Police buildings) and social security number verification check. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in and around City buildings, parks, and facilities; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform light to medium physical work and around machines, and to operate varied hand and power tools and specialized equipment; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio.

The job involves fieldwork requiring frequent walking in operational areas to identify problems or hazards. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate above-mentioned tools and equipment. Positions in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, and reach when completing maintenance, repairs, and various daily tasks.

Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 75 pounds, or heavier weights with the use of proper equipment. Employees work in and around buildings and facilities and are exposed to constant noise, heights, cold and hot temperatures, temperature swings, dust, mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards, and hazardous odors and fumes.
