Responsibilities

Beech Acres Parenting Center ("The Beech" as we like to call it!) is seeking a Parenting Specialist to support families. This role provides direct support to parents remotely and within pediatric/medical practices and designated office locations.  Partners with doctors, nurses, Medical practice staff, community referral agents, and other agency resources to ensure holistic and collaborative care for parents and their children/families.  This role will be predominantly virtual in nature, with periodic office sessions.

 

Key Activities:

  • Provide Needs Assessments for parents and families seeking support
  • Promote parent skill building and education/knowledge building
  • Share pertinent and helpful information with providers and staff to support holistic care
  • Track data about clients served including screening data, demographic data, and outcomes data
  • Engage parents in trusting and productive relationships
  • Connect parents, children and families to needed resources, when indicated
  • Utilize the Natural Strength ParentingTM Coaching model as the primary intervention model with parents
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners within the practices and the community
  • Share program and practice-specific program data with medical practice providers and staff
  • Utilize proven techniques, such as Motivational Interviewing, to support positive change with parents and families served
  • Assist families with building/boosting resiliency factors

 

Expectations:

  • Ensure high quality customer service for parents, children, families, doctors and providers at the practices
  • Consistent documentation about client engagement and progress in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Routine data collection and accurate data entry into the BAPC data system
  • Ensure flexibility in work schedule to meet with parents when they are available
  • Achieve direct services utilization and productivity targets
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement practices
  • Attend regularly scheduled supervision meetings
  • Assist families with crisis situations by connecting them to the right resources efficiently and documenting the incidents within the agency policy and contractual guidelines
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Education, Child Development, Child & Family Studies or related area + 7-10 years of experience in program administration within a human services or healthcare environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
