Parent Educator
Full-Time | Bay County
Hourly Rate: $19.00/hr.

Position Overview:
Make a difference in a family's life by supporting parents through coaching, mentoring, support, and parenting education. Collaborate with community partners to provide assistance and intervention to families involved in the child welfare system. The Parent Educator will provide home-based life skills and parenting assistance to families of Bay County
Responsibilities:
  • Provide weekly in home and community visits in partnership with each family and provide services to meet the needs of families during traditional and non-traditional hours.
  • Promote and support effective parent-child interactions using routines and the family home as the primary learning environment and utilize identified home based curriculum for parent education to fidelity.
  • Facilitate written Family Assessments/Service Plans, monthly Updated Service Plans, and other reports in collaboration with each family by conducting ongoing assessments with the children and their parent.
  • Administer pre and post assessments as required by the contract.
  • Utilizes written materials, videos, role playing, directed interactions discussions, and/or modeling appropriate behaviors, to facilitate education sessions.
  • Make all efforts to assure the safety and well-being of every child and family in the program.
  • Work collaboratively with community partners in delivering quality services to children and families.
  • Accurately complete required program documentation and record keeping in a neat and timely manner.
  • Responsible for inputting data into program data bases.
  • Responsible for being a positive, innovative, and supportive team player and promoting a healthy work environment.
  • Participate in personal and professional development activities, including staff meetings, conferences, training opportunities, as identified and approved by supervisors.
  • Attend community events and meetings to support the agency programs, including evening and weekend events/meetings.
  • Provide testimony in court as requested by MDHHS.
  • Will maintain a predictable and flexible schedule.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work cooperatively as a team leader and a team member.
  • Must be self-directed and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Will participate in weekly supervision with direct supervisor.
  • Will attend and provide positive contributions to team meetings.
  • Must possess the ability to prioritize and complete tasks to deliver desired outcomes within allocated time frames.
  • Must be willing to accept new challenges.
  • Ability to navigate and effectively resolve conflict.
  • Understand the importance of daily work attendance, and its impact on coworkers, the families we serve, and the agency.
  • Performs other duties related to the essential duties of the position and within the individual’s capabilities as assigned by one’s supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, family ecology, consumer/community services, family studies, family and/or child development, guidance/school counseling, counseling psychology, or criminal justice.
  • Child Welfare experience preferred.
  • Valid and Current Driver’s License. Meet State “Good Moral Character” guidelines.
