Paraprofessional Emergency Substitute
I. General Description
In the absence of the classroom teacher, the paraprofessional provides instruction, encourages student progress, and manages the learning environment as assigned
II. Qualifications

1. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
2. Successful completion of the paraeducator assessment, 60 college credit hours (100 level or higher), or an Associate's Degree
3. Must possess a valid AZ Emergency Substitute certificate
4. Must possess a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance card
5. General clerical experience (preferred)
6. Prior experience working with children is (preferred)
7. Must be able to push, pull, or lift weights of at least 30 pounds
8. Must be proficient in the use of the English language, both verbal and written (preferred)

III. Duties and Responsibilities

1. Follows professional practices consistent with the school district policies in working with students, parents, and staff
2. Maintains a discipline and classroom that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with district policies
3. Ensures adequate supervision to assure the health, welfare, and safety of all students
4. Reports to the office upon arrival at school; checks mailboxes of absent teacher for materials requiring immediate attention; obtain duty schedules; requests clarification of school rules and procedures
5. Implement lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner that motivates students to learn and participate
6. Reports all students' injuries, accidents, illness, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as s reasonably possible.
7. Acts in a professional manner
8. Performs other related duties as assigned by the building administrator(s) in accordance with school/district policies

Reports to: Building Administrator
Terms of Employment: 10 Months, 40 hours/week
