DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: District Wide (EC-12) - Home base Heartland Early Childhood Center
HOURS OF WORK: 7 Hours Daily / 172 Calendar Days Yearly
STATUS: Classified - Non-Exempt, Full Time
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for assisting in the instruction, and supervision of students with primarily with autism in the classroom, resource room or self-contained classroom. This position is expected to assist in data collection, monitoring student behavior, and provide feedback to staff.
This position is part of the paraeducator team and reports to the Autism Specialist.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Implement Individual Educational Program (IEP) students
• Work with students with aggressive and challenging behaviors providing support and interventions.
• Implement behavioral and educational plans designed by the IEP team.
• Provide instruction to students in group and individual settings to meet IEP goals with guidance of a certified teacher.

• Maintain data providing accurate information regarding student progress on behavior and academics.
• Monitor students providing a positive and safe environment conducive to learning.
• Provide certified staff data and support regarding students' IEP development.
• Support students in addressing personal care and restroom needs.
• Provide training to other classroom staff and para educators on ABA, IEP programs, and behavior supports and plans.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years' experience working with students with autism

• 2 years college in related field preferred but not required (psychology, child development, education, ABA)
• RBT not required but preferred.

• Opportunities for RBT supervision

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
• High degree of confidentiality, motivation, and responsibility.
• Highly collaborative team player.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
• 20 hours in-service training required annually.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires the performance of heavy work and requires the ability to exert up to 80 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently, and 20 pounds of force constantly. This position requires frequent balancing, carrying, climbing, crawling, crouching, fine finger dexterity, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, sitting, standing, stooping, and walking.
The position must be able to discern and prepare data with adequate visual acuity to communicate information with staff and students. The position requires moving between buildings and at times remaining in a stationary position.
