What you need to know:

As a Paralegal in the Legal Department's Litigation group, you will be responsible for, among other things, (i) reviewing / researching / routing all legal documents served upon the various AIG companies; (ii) conducting policy and claims specific research relating to both AIG insureds and third parties; (iii) running docket and court-filed document searches requested by in-house attorneys and/or adjusters; (iv) conducting jury verdict and attorney background research in Westlaw and, more generally, on the internet; and (v) researching and resolving non-routine inquiries.

Additional responsibilities will include to:
  • Gather and analyze multiple sources of information and ensure validity thereof;
  • Communicate and interface with internal underwriters/adjusters and with third parties to obtain and/or provide information related to various legal inquiries;
  • Serve as a liaison between the Litigation group on one hand and several third party partners on the other hand to ensure coordination, cooperation and adherence to company guidelines with respect to the routing and handling of legal process;
  • Maintain, adhere to and ensure compliance with various guidelines and procedures adopted by the Litigation group;
  • Provide additional support on additional projects as needed by, and handle miscellaneous inquiries from, the Litigation group on an ad hoc basis; and
  • Review social media posts by Digital Media department for appropriate content and approve them based on required legal factors.


What we're looking for:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; or 4+ years of direct professional experience with a minimum 2 years of related experience.
  • Paralegal Certificate.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and be able to work well with others in a group/individual setting.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and requests at one time.
  • Ability to comprehend complex issues using applied knowledge of company policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in the use of desktop applications and MS Office.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (i.e. ability to sort data, create formulas, filters and formatting cells/spreadsheets).
