Role Purpose
NBCUniversal is seeking a Paralegal to join the Brands & Content Intellectual Property team, which supports the development of brands and the production of content for all NBCUniversal businesses globally. Working closely with the attorneys, the paralegals are highly respected team members that manage the Company's extensive worldwide trademark portfolio, including managing all trademark deadlines, driving trademark prosecution and enforcement lifecycles, and managing foreign and outside counsel. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, communication, organizational, and proofreading skills, with an attentive and detail-oriented nature.
Job Duties
- Manage worldwide trademark filing programs, including prosecution, maintenance, renewals, and enforcement
- Supervise foreign counsel on clearance, prosecution, and enforcement matters
- Conduct and analyze clearances searches, including trademarks, titles, and editorial
- Research and gather evidence for enforcement matters and records
- Draft correspondence and documentation, including: cease and desist letters, affidavits/declarations, agreements, powers of attorney, and chain-of-title documents
- Work closely with business groups on trademark prosecution and enforcement matters
- Collaborate with department to discuss issues and propose solutions to enhance practice
- Handle invoices, prepare reports and assist with other team projects
Basic Requirements
- Paralegal certificate, willingness to obtain certificate within a year, or meets the paralegal requirements under California Business and Professions Code 6450
- Experience as a paralegal, preferably in trademark or Intellectual Property
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, such as Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Experience with Anaqua or similar trademark docketing systems
- Experience with SAEGIS or similar trademark platforms
- Familiarity with domestic and foreign trademark practice and procedures
