Reports to: Assigned teacher, building principal, and/or special services director
Supervises: n/a
Qualifications: Tier 2 (Special Education)

Job Goal: Work with a small group of students or one-on-one with an individual student to assist the student in unique educational goals.
Employment Terms: 172 days__ subject to approved school calendar which may alter this number

Regular Requirements: Stand for extended periods; walk; twist at the neck and trunk; bend and reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; repetitive use of fingers and hands to grasp and/or operate equipment and demonstrate lessons to students; lift/move up to 15 pounds
Occasional Requirements: Lift/move up to 25 pounds
Visual Requirements: Close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus
Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information

- Two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 semester
hours of college work), OR
- An associate's degree (or higher), OR
- Passed the WorkKeys Test (Bronze +), ParaPro Assessment (455 +) or
the OGET
AND
- OSDE special education paraprofessional training through Pepper,
career technology centers or other state approved training providers
- Cardiovascular Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/First Aid training,
maintaining current certification
- Universal Precautions/Bloodborne Pathogens yearly training, AND
- Six hours of professional development each year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Monitor students on district provided transportation and assist students getting on or off busses and vans.
- Accompany students to the cafeteria for meals and assist students with getting and eating meals and cleaning up after meals.
- Accompany students to classes or therapy services, monitor behavior (intervening as needed) and assist with classwork.
- Assist students with motor, balance, social and life skills.
- Assist students with personal care, including dressing, toileting and diapering.
- Monitor students during nap times.
- Complete all paperwork, including Medicaid and daily progress journals.
- Clean and maintain an efficient and work area.
- Assist with instruction, errands and copies related to assigned student(s).
- Attend IEP and other meetings and trainings as requested.
- Alert assigned teacher of concerns related to the student.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Comply with all federal, state and local laws and board policies and procedures.
- Utilize professional behavior in all school-related interactions.
- Perform all other tasks as requested by supervisor.
