LCCA currently has an exciting opportunity for a Para-professional Technician.The Para-professional is responsible for all aspects direct care of patients 5 to 21 years of age admitted for psychiatric disorders, supports the milieu, ensures the safety and well being of the patients in care.  Provides para-professional and MHT duties like

• • Ensures consistency in supervision of residents/patients
  • Assesses escalating residents/patients behaviors by responding appropriately and in a timely manner
  • Recognizes this job is fast-paced therefore the ability to multi-task is essential
  • Employee is prepared to manage many different personalities and behaviors
  • Avoids confrontational situations and emotionally charged conversations with residents/patients and coworkers
  • Responds immediately and participates as directed or necessary in a “code” (an emergency situation)
  • Ensures documentation and designated duties are completed prior to the end of shift
  • Follows procedures and protocols regarding patient observation for each level
  • When assigned to a resident/patient who is on increased level of observation, employee remains close enough to assure the resident/patient is safe at all times
  • Employee does not engage in other activities that divert attention (e.g. reading, conversing with other residents/patients or staff members about nonrelated rounds issues, etc.)
  • Maintains resident/patient safety including when resident/patient is in the bathroom
  • Ensures “over-stepping” of clinical expertise while interacting with residents/patients (for example talking to residents about situations which may be best discussed by a member of clinical treatment team)
  • Understands precaution levels: Elopement precautions, Sexual precautions (sexual aggression vs. sexual victimization), Fall precautions, Assault/homicidal precautions, Suicidal precautions, Medically compromised precautions, Unit restrictions
  • Ensures therapeutic boundaries are adhered to in all interactions at all times with all residents/patients
  • Immediately reports sudden changes in resident/patient behavior/condition to the RN and/or MSS/Shift Supervisor
  • Assist and serve as a mentor

• Associates degree education in a human services related field and/or the study of child development. 
• Must obtain Para-professional certification per Richmond County school district requirements.
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Two (2) years of experience working with children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbance and/or co-occurring substance abuse disorders
