PARAPROFESSIONAL - SPECIAL EDUCATION
Summary
Responsible for assisting, supporting, working closely with teachers & other team members in providing educational support in the classroom, and with students at the direction of the classroom teachers(s).
Job Duties – Para professional
- Assists teachers through work with students during classroom learning
activities. - Assists with monitoring of the classroom to minimize distractions and
disruptions. - Empowers students to develop independence in academic settings and on the job site.
- Acts as a nurturing and encouraging influence for students during learning activities and in job/work experience situations.
- Works with computers and web-based programs when assisting students
and teachers in the classroom. - Assists as a job coach/provides guidance with students in the job/work
experience setting.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, para professionals are required
to sit, walk or stand. - The para professional is frequently required to be on his/her feet in lab
settings, multiple times during the day. - Accompanies and assists students and the teacher during outdoor learning activities.
- The need to walk distances and be on one’s feet during these learning activities is required.
