The General Laborer is a critical role in the Paper Mill. The General Laborer could be assigned to clean-up functions such as blowing down the machine, wiping off shafts, cleaning systems, vacuuming and sweeping the machine area, as well as picking up and shredding scrap. The General Laborer continues to learn and grow while being taught the fundamentals of the machines and paper making process.
- Actively participate in all safety programs
- Learn machine(s) functions and effectively assist operator and/or assistant in all their duties
- Counting and stacking finished product
- Reading orders
- Accurately reading gauges and other test equipment
- Utilizing basic shop math, inspecting
The Genera Laborer will have an opportunity to work as needed in various departments. After completion of sixty days (60) probationary period Labor pool employees can bid on vacancies in the following areas if open: Note: Gain department seniority as union positions.

- Shipping
- Purchasing
- Able to work with direction from Supervisors, Senior Operators and Management Team.
- Awareness of and commitment to personal safety.
- Multi-tasking ability.
- Pass a drug screen, includes marijuana, background check and physical fitness assessment.
- Will be expected to drive a forklift, training provided.
- Regular attendance, reliability and stability.
EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Experience as a helper or labor in industrial, construction or maintenance field. Examples include but not limited too: landscaping, roofing, mining, cement mixing, logging, cleaning tools or equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Exposure to outdoor elements. Exposure to high humidity and heat indoors.
- Exposure to loud environments.
- Wear personal protective equipment as required and directed.
- Shifts are work 12-hour shifts starting at 7 AM or 7 PM. Schedule is 2 days on, 2 nights on, 4 days off.

- Vacation – may be earned after 1 year of service. Regulated by CBA.
- Floating Holiday – One floating holiday will be awarded after 180 days of employment and then each June 1st following.
