LOCATION
– Traveling

We do not require you to live in a specific location for this position, but you will be expected to report to one of our current job sites across the US. Job sites will be discussed during interview process.

ABOUT THE JOB


Under the direction of a qualified Site Foreman or Painter III, you will assist with the performance of tasks involving surface preparation and the application of Industrial Coatings in a safe and efficient manner to support commercial and government services for Tepa’s Coatings & Linings Service Team and meet or exceed the required quality, safety, and profitability goals.

Job responsibilities will include:

  • Perform tasks involving surface preparation and application of Industrial Coatings to Above-ground Storage Tanks (AST) and other surfaces as applicable to projects within the Coatings & Linings Service Line, producing quality work safely
  • Perform a variety of tasks involving manual labor for Tepa’s Coatings & Linings Service Line associated with painting and other industrial coating operation tasks for commercial and government services
  • Performance of coatings related activities including but not limited to tending to and operating abrasive blast equipment, shoveling spent blast abrasive, mixing Industrial Coatings, and accurately applying Industrial Coatings to specified thicknesses.
  • Assist or provide support to activities include tending to and operating abrasive blast equipment, shoveling spent blast abrasive, and mixing coatings
  • Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards
  • Material handling and storage
  • Load/unload trucks and haul/hoist materials
  • Participate with direct supervisor in all planning operations as required
  • Respond quickly and effectively to changing site conditions. Assess change conditions and communicate them to direct supervisor
  • Bring any problems to the attention of the Trainer, Site Foreman, Safety Officer, Project Manager, or Human Resource Manager
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment on assigned project sites as required
  • Support the investigation of all safety and health incidents
  • Attend all required training courses as applicable
  • Keep an open line of communication with other Tepa’s staff on site for any aspects of task execution and completion
  • Complete delegated tasks to support cost performance goals for assigned project work sites
  • Adhere to Tepa’s Safety and Health policies and procedures to prevent injuries and/or illnesses on assigned project work sites
  • Actively participate in quarterly and annual performance evaluation meetings with Supervisor to identify potential areas of professional development as well as deficiencies and plans for improvement
  • Display a consistent effort to listen, comprehend and act in response to the needs of both internal and external clients to provide excellent service and client satisfaction
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of all corporate policies and reporting systems
  • Maintain daily timekeeping in accordance with corporate timekeeping policy
  • Be punctual to your assigned jobsites. If a problem arises, communicate effectively and immediately with the site foreman and project manager

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • High School Diploma/General Education Diploma (GED) or demonstrated proficiency in both oral and written communication with the fundamental knowledge of mathematics demonstrated by the ability to solve a variety of problems that can be modeled or solved by quantitative means.
  • Eighteen (18) months of experience with large scale, multi-phased Industrial Coatings projects including internal and external tank coatings that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform required work for the Coatings & Linings Service Line
  • Experience using Personal Protective Equipment
  • Eighteen (18) months to two (2) years of general construction experience with experience in API-650 tanks and Petrochemical industry preferred
  • National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) member preferred
  • Steel Structural Painting Council member (SSPC Level 2) preferred
  • Familiar with general construction including OSHA requirements
  • Proficient in accurately applying Industrial Coatings at specified thickness to complex industrial structures by brush and roll application
  • Proficient in mixing Industrial Coatings
  • Knowledge of operating industrial painting equipment such as abrasive blast pots, conventional spray pots/guns, airless spray pumps/guns, and plural component spray equipment
  • Knowledge of SSPC surface preparation standards
  • Proficient in abrasive blasting complex industrial structures per SSPC standards.
  • Proficient in manual labor associated with Industrial Coatings, construction trades, crafts and maintenance, and repair tasks
  • Ability to proactively address potential unsafe conditions
  • Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions
  • Ability to travel to out of state work locations for extended periods
  • Above average oral, written and listening communication skills with full effectiveness of keeping others informed
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instruction
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Strong work ethic
