JOB PURPOSE
This position is essential in the painting process. The Paint Prep will ensure all parts are prepped and ready for the next stage of the process. This position will also assist the painter during the painting stages, as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for cleaning and sanding parts before paintwork is started/completed.
- Responsible for inspecting work on parts prior to paint being applied.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area, maintains and wears all required personal protective safety equipment.
- Participates in all continuous improvement programs by offering suggestions and exhibiting initiative in areas within direct control.
- Assist painters during painting stages, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's License
- Basic knowledge and understanding of automotive/industrial paint process and prep work to be completed.
- Ability to efficiently use various hand and power tools.
- Keen attention to detail
- Ability to work with multiple priorities and constant interruptions.
- Basic communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Must understand vague and implicit instructions, and react favorably in all work situations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain confidentiality as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PSA Manufacturing experience
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of automotive/industrial paint process and prep work
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an operational warehouse environment. While performing regular duties, this position is exposed to various chemicals and solvents. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping and stretching, and full range of body motion including handling and lifting up to 50 pounds frequently, manual and finger dexterity, as well as a normal range of hearing and vision.
