Role Summary

This position is for a new greenfield facility that will be located in the Stanton, TN area. Under the direction of the general manager, the Paint Manager has overall responsibility to ensure systems and processes are developed and implemented to produce quality parts on time as cost effectively as possible, while adhering to the principles of the Magna Employee Charter. The Paint Manager also supervises and supports the operational supervisors, administrative coordinators, skilled trades and operators in paint areas.

Key Responsibilities

Develops and implements business plan objectives for areas of responsibility.
Ensures safe production processes are developed that can produce quality parts in a cost effective manner.
Directs development and implementation of quality systems to ensure products produced meet customers’ quality requirements.
Assists direct reports by coaching, counseling, motivating and providing technical support as necessary.
Conducts performance appraisals on direct reports in a timely manner.
Applies disciplinary actions within department as needed. 
Participate in plantwide development of yearly business plan priorities.
Participate in determining ongoing Nascote business direction.
Interviews and selects candidates for hire in areas of responsibility.
Maintains an acceptable attendance record.
Supervises: Process Engineers, Paint Production Engineer, Facility Engineers, Supervisors (Paint
Maintenance), Environmental Engineer, System Engineer and Production Data Processor.
Ensures housekeeping in area is maintained to department standards.
Ensures departmental meetings are being held and all documentation is recorded and kept.
Tracks safety audits and ensures effective corrective actions are taken.
Champions safety and quality 8D’s and ensures effective corrective actions are taken.
Implements lateral moves, postings, layoffs and recalls in department as needed.
Completes documentation of activities as required. Approves time sheets, leaves and vacations.
Submits cost reduction and Innovation ideas and encourages direct reports to do the same.
Approves all department and plant BOS procedures and forms. Approves ECNs as assigned.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

 

EDUCATION: 

B.S. or B.A. or equivalent in Technical or Business required.

  • Must have strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills (8D methodology).
  • Must have good computer skills.
  • Must have good math skills.
  • Must have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Must have the ability to make group presentations.

Additional Information

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The Paint Manager will work in an office environment as well as in a manufactured environment. Some of the physical demands of this position include sitting for prolonged periods of time, walking up and down staircases, occasional lifting, and occasional stooping and bending.Must spend time in manufacturing environment using normal PPE and safety precautions. Occasional travel may be required.
