Essential Functions:
Essential functions are a high-level summary of responsibilities that the position is responsible for completing. It is not meant to be a list of all tasks and duties.
Perform initial history and physical examinations of patients referred to the Pain Management clinic.
Perform follow up visits on patients previously seen in the Pain Management clinic.
Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic imaging and laboratory tests.
Prescription and management of analgesics, including controlled substances.
Performance of credentialed interventional Pain Management procedures.
Experience with the surgical and medical management of implanted intrathecal pumps, neurostimulators, and associated hardware.
Initiate referrals on behalf of pain clinic patients to other specialists and/or departments as needed for continuation of care.
Communicating directly with referring providers and other specialists to maintain continuity of care.
Documenting, ordering, and general use of the Epic Electronic Health Records system.
Completion of daily chart notes, orders, messages, medication refill requests, etc. within a 48-hour period of time.
Work in conjunction with other department physicians, mid-level providers, and the nursing staff in a team-based approach.
Direct supervision of mid-level providers within the clinic.
Maintaining up to date knowledge and skills pertinent to the practice of pain medicine.
Other duties related to the care of Pain Management clinic patients and/or the routine operation of the clinic as assigned by the Department Chief and/or Medical Director from time to time.
