A leading outpatient Surgical Provider is hiring a PACU Registered Nurse. The ideal person must demonstrate excellent patient care, professionalism, have excellent communication skills, and play a key role in our performance-improvement and safety-risk management programs.
Job Summary: The PACU Registered Nurse admits the patient to the perioperative setting and develops and implements a plan of care for the patient based on pre-operative or post-operative as appropriate. Essential Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Communication:
- Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers
- Imparts important aspects of patient care to team members
- Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner
- Compliance Program:
- Contributes to the progress and development of the organization’s adopted compliance program
- Performs according to established compliance policies and procedures
Performance-Improvement Program:
- Contributes to the progress and development of the organization’s adopted performance-improvement program
- Performs according to established performance-improvement policies and procedures
- Objectively evaluates suggestions, grievances, and processes to identify opportunities to improve performance and quality of care
- Participates in data collection activities
- Helps implement new procedures when they are developed
Job Responsibilities:
- Participates as a team member in support of the total perioperative process
- Uses pre-operative time out and check list appropriately
- Reports untoward events or near misses as soon as practicably possible
- Effectively organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel
- Organizes nursing activities efficiently
- Considers staff abilities when delegating activities
- Uses equipment effectively by anticipating patient needs and providing appropriate care
- Confirms that proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted standards of practice
- Assists with inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in the admission area
- Maintains order and cleanliness of admission and recovery area
- Performs and documents appropriate admission assessment of patient
- Follows facility policy and assists in assessing the physical and emotional status of the patient upon admission
Required Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities:
- Minimum of at least 1 year RN experience
- Current RN California license
- Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications
- Ability to work in all Centers in Monterey and Salinas
- Cooperative work attitude toward co-workers, supervisors, patients, visitors, and physicians
- Demonstrates leadership qualities; proven ability to make decisions, and solve problems with strong ethical and moral character references
- High-level written, and interpersonal communication skills
