The Packer is responsible for packaging finished goods according to FCC quality standards; conducting visual quality checks; informing machine operator of equipment jams, etc.; and conforms to pallet patterns when applicable. Employee may operate and maintain the Twistwrap, Rollwrap, Multipack, Cartoner, Prodopack, Bulk, and/or Generals equipment and supporting equipment.
- Assembles cartons, displays, and shippers
- Operate automatic form and fill packaging machine
- Transfer completed products as needed
- Complete computer data entry and reports
- Assists any time the line is in a scrap mode
- If product is jammed in equipment, Packer is to immediately notify the Machine Operator to correct the problem. If trained, the Packer should take corrective action themselves
- Inspects materials, products, and containers at each step of packaging process
- Packs special arrangements or selections of product
- Responsible for proper packaging of all finished goods
- Responsible for verifying and executing pallet patterns were applicable
- Ensures a quality product through regular visual checks
- Assists in other facets of production as needed. Works at different workstations as production needs require
- Conducts assigned work in a safe manner and adheres to FCC safety methods
- Understand and demonstrate the Company's core values and operating principles
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, GMP and safety standards
- Perform other duties as assigned to support FCC business objectives
- Minimum of 1 year experience operating packaging machinery and/or working in food manufacturing strongly preferred
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Basic mathematical skills
- Basic computer literacy and navigation
- Basic understanding of equipment capabilities, standards and proper set points including but not limited to metal detectors, check weights and Ishida scales
- Ability to pass certification test on pallet jack and PIT
- Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods; ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Dependable and flexible when work is required in other facets of production
