Job description

Job Title: Packaging Supervisor
Location: GA
Department: Georgia Packaging- Bldg 1
Reports To: GA Packaging Manager
Job Summary
Provide leadership and direction to employees to attain short- and long term
goals, optimize team effectiveness and meet daily work schedules
in the Packaging Departments Ensures safety, regulatory compliance,
morale, and cost control. Achieve departmental goals and metrics by
managing crew, productivity, material usage, product quality (yield), and
equipment utilization.
Essential Functions
  • Ensure employees perform work according to established safety rules and practices, environmental and housekeeping standards while striving for ZERO Accidents
  • Understands customer quality requirements, assures teammates understand and follow these requirements
  • Develops implements and assures procedures are followed to detect and eliminate non-conforming incoming supplies
  • Develops implements and assures procedures are followed for the packaging department
  • Coordinate purchase of supplies necessary to insure functioning of packaging department
  • Coordinate with Processing Supervisor to insure clay supply for packaging operations
  • Supervise, train, and develop, and review packaging staff.
  • Plans packaging and loading operations, establishing priorities and sequences for packaging products
  • Communicate key metrics to Plant Manager and production teams to stimulate process improvement and cost reduction
  • Arrange for equipment inspections as necessary, coordinate maintenance activities to meet established preventative maintenance goals.
  • Develop and maintain procedure manual and training aids.
  • Gather and analyze data; make and implement recommendations for process improvements and cost reductions
  • Increase line efficiencies along with crew efficiencies and maximize daily packaging production and achieve all drop rates
  • Complete required reporting and documentation
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • Other actions as needed to satisfy company goals, process, and procedures and to uphold values inherent to Oil-Dri, including Lesson’s learned
Qualifications:
  • College Degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience; must pass all job-related assessments
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a packaging environment
  • Experience in bulk material handling and packaging equipment and supplies desired
  • Proficient in spreadsheet development and word processing
  • Able to analyze problems and present workable solutions
  • Familiarity with MSHA (or OSHA) regulations and practices, desired
