At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for aPackaging Engineering Intern for Summer 2024to join theElectrical Wiring Pass and Seymour Teamin Syracuse, NY. The successful candidate is responsible for ensuring that products are packaged according to given specifications, taking into account all customers, including Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Distribution, and the End User.

What Will You Do?

  • Define and document packaging standards for new and existing products. Create and maintain packaging standards for the transportation and shipping of products.

  • Define packaging for new product projects. Participate in team meetings. Provide options to meet packaging needs. Provide necessary packaging information for project milestones. Work with vendors during packaging development process. Create necessary Packaging Documentation.

  • Testing products to ASTM shipping standards.

  • Define and support packaging changes to existing products. Revise existing Packaging Documentation. Develop new Packaging Documentation for existing product as required. Work with vendors during packaging development process. Work with Engineering Team to revise Bills of Materials as required.

  • Maintain barcode/label software and create packaging labels for all manufacturing locations. Develop label specifications for new products. Maintain and revise existing label specs and support labeling equipment up keep as required. Develop new label formats as required to support manufacturing needs and reduce product costs.

  • Develop pallet quantities to support distribution and provide related Load Sheet specifications.

  • Performs other similar and related duties as required.

Qualifications

Required Skills

Education:

  • Actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in packaging engineering, or an Associate Degree program in Electronics Technology or similar disciplines, from an accredited institution.

    Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Proficient in MS Office, knowledge of Bartender and Solidworks EPDM a plus. Knowledge of different packaging options to provide solutions to meet the needs of Marketing, Manufacturing, Distribution and Customer. Knowledge of different packaging materials to be able to work with vendors to design packaging and solve problems. Oral and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Proficient computer skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively on a team & have good communication skills both verbal & written.

  • Provide own mode of transportation.

  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

  • Proficient in MS Office.

    Salary Range: $18.00 - $22.00 / per hour.
