Description
Each member of InterAct's staff fulfills an important role in furthering InterAct's mission of providing safety, support, and awareness to victims and survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence and the entire community, as well as saving lives, rebuilding lives, and securing safer futures.
This full-time position will focus on the needs of all residents in the shelter for battered women and children, during the hours of 11 pm to 7 am. The Overnight Shelter Monitor will provide support to residents as needs arise and provide administrative support to the department. This position also serves as a counselor on the 24-hour crisis lines.
Requirements

• Monitor and respond to all activity in the shelter during your shift and assist shelter guests as needed.
• Provide administrative duties (updating forms and documents, completing exit summaries, filing, compiling data, etc.)
• Provides support to clients in residential program on issues related to domestic violence and strategies for living independently to include departure and safety plans at the end of their shelter stay.
• Provides advocacy to clients for mental health, substance abuse, or school-related referrals as needed and making necessary arrangements for transportation.
• Provides crisis intervention, support and/or referral services to callers on overnight crisis lines.
• Provides holiday and emergency coverage as needed.
• Maintains shelter safety through monitoring cameras and communicating with security guards.
• Assists with room preparation including laundry, making beds and routine room checks.
• Assists with maintaining inventory of USDA Government Foods.
• Create and maintain client files.
• Maintains supply of office materials and client forms.
• Responsible for handling crisis calls as needed.
• Maintain a high level of consciousness and sensitivity to survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their children.
• Assist in ensuring the cleanliness and general maintenance of the shelter facility.
• Communicates important incidents involving residents to the appropriate shelter staff.
• Orient new residents to shelter facility during your shift.
• Performs other related duties as required for program operation.

Minimum requirements:
Experience in crisis intervention setting, preferably with victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault, preferred. BA degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related human services field, or three years of equivalent experience. Previous experience with victims of domestic and/or sexual violence preferred. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Candidates must pass a background check satisfactory to InterAct's standards and adherence to InterAct's COVID requirements.
