Program Description:

Backcountry Wellness is an Eating Disorder treatment program founded with the mission of bridging comprehensive recovery with the demands of real life. Our treatment philosophy embraces compassion and understanding, safety and nurturing, and a focus on family involvement to equip our patients with the tools to make lasting changes within their lives. Backcountry Wellness provides immersive programming for children and adolescents who live with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating, Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake, Orthorexia, and Other Specific Feeding and Eating Disorders (OSFED).

Job Summary:

The Overnight Nurse (ON) is responsible for supporting medical functions throughout the facility. The ON's credentials are LPN, RN or APRN. The ON is an important part of maintaining the overall health and vitality of patient base while also assisting with facilitation of daily programming. The ON communicates directly with the Physician, Psychiatrist and Clinical Director to execute medical tasks. The ON will meet with patients to assess vitals, medical status, administer medication, conduct an initial nursing assessment, create a nursing plan of care, conduct other assessments, and fulfill additional nursing responsibilities. The ON is a key part of the broader treatment team, providing real-time updates on patient status and trends as related to their physical health.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Conduct comprehensive nursing intake assessment on newly admitted residential patients
  • Contribute to the nursing plan of care upon intake of all new patients in coordination with the broader treatment plan
  • Address medical situations, execute first aid protocols and call for physician intervention if necessary
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Director and broader treatment team to highlight medical strengths and weaknesses of patients throughout their time in the program
  • Execute administration of medication, documentation, standing orders, and general nursing responsibilities
  • Properly document all patient interactions and nursing procedures
  • Assess patient weights and vitals while also addressing any individualized medical-related issues
  • Provide a historical assessment and physical examination for all patients when necessary
  • Liaise with pharmacy contacts and manage all medication-related events
  • Assist with evening residential programming on an ad-hoc basis
  • Support emergency care and provide on-call medical assistance for patients
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
  • Bring a positive attitude and medical leadership to a vibrant treatment environment for Eating Disorders

Qualifications:

  • LPN, RN or APRN state licensure
  • Preferred nursing experience in a mental health environment
  • Comprehension of mental health diagnoses, principles of nursing and medical best practices
  • Ability to administer medication, assess vitals, perform first aid, and execute nursing assessments and plans of care
  • Comprehension of medications and their use cases

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
