Location: Hampton Roads Area Command - Men's Hope Center - Norfolk, VA
Position Type: Regular Full-Time/Hourly
Pay Range: $12.00 - $14.19/Hour
About this opportunity:
Perform a wide variety of functions to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of the shelter residents as well as the building.
Key responsibilities:

  • Updates residents' admittance cards and tracking sheets.
  • Inputs data as necessary into the computer system.
  • Monitors client's day-to-day activities, including scheduling and inventorying, passes, taking of prescribed medication, and resident's general whereabouts.
  • Maintains shelter logbook through documentation, as directed by the Shelter Director.
  • Collects male and female urinalysis. Documents urinalysis and Breathalyzers test results.
  • Mediates conflicts between residents.

What we are looking for in you:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • and
  • One year experience performing security and/or social service work preferred,
  • Or
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to deal with people maturely and professionally.
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to lift light objects weighing less than 24 pounds.
  • Work is performed in a lodge/shelter facility where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
