Working at YMCA Camp Cha-La-Kee is more than having a fun summer job in the great outdoors! Our Camp Team creates an environment that inspires our campers to develop new skills, build self-confidence, create lifelong friendships and have safe, challenging adventures. Our activities include sports, archery, riflery, zip line, giant swing, arts & crafts, low ropes, high ropes, aqua inflatables on the lake, banana boat, canoeing, kayaking, swimming pool, boating, tubing and fishing. All this happens on our 61-acre wooded, waterfront campus on the shores of Lake Guntersvillle.
Requirements
EXPERIENCE/PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Willingness to carry out the mission of the YMCA and its programs.
- Ability to see that all business and safety records and procedures set up by the corporation are completed accurately within the defined time schedule.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain all personal certifications needed to serve in this position.
- Ability to interpret, as well as, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and utilize initiative, ability to be organized and to meet deadlines.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Work to continue personal competency through education, outside literature, seminars, etc.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated record of individual development.
- Be at least 19 years of age or have at least one year of college experience or its equivalent.
- Be certified in First Aid, CPR, and Lifeguarding (in-house training available).
- Have specific land and water activities skills as needed for program type.
